Packing for Balearic Islands
The Balearic Islands have a Mediterranean climate. Summers are hot but the sea breeze offers welcome reprieve from the heat. In July and August expect an average temperature of 28°C. Suncream, sunglasses and a hat are essentials, and it’s also worth having some long-sleeved shirts to keep those arms covered. Remember your swimming gear if you’re beach-bound, and check whether your accommodation provides beach towels – you may need to bring your own. Winters tend to be mild with daytime temperatures rarely dropping below 14°C. Expect rain in the months of October, November, and December.
Last but not least, you might want to bring some sports gear to enjoy the coastline. If you’re a keen surfer, shipping luggage to the Balearic Islands will help you ride the islands’ waves on your own board.
Ship your bike to Balearic Islands
There are many cycle routes to enjoy on the Balearic Islands. Mallorca’s northern coast has a cycle route from the town of Valldemossa to the small village of Deià, passing through the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range. On Menorca the 186-km road once used by horses, Camí de Cavalls, is ideal for mountain biking. Also for mountain bikers, there are two routes of note in Ibiza: the Na Xamena route leading to Port de Sant Miquel, and the Moon Beach route from Sant Joan de Labritja to Es Pujolots. Luggage Mule can ship your bike to the Balearic Islands at reasonable rates, giving you the chance to ride these superb trails on your own wheels.
Ship your golfing gear to Balearic Islands
The Balearic Islands boasts many golf clubs with all but two – Golf Son Parc in Minorca and Golf de Ibiza – found on the island of Mallorca. Palma de Mallorca acts as a good base with the 1964-founded Son Vida, the more recent Son Antem, and Thomas Himmel’s Son Gual all nearby. Luggage Mule can ship your bike to the Balearic Islands at reasonable rates, giving you the chance to play these superb courses with your own clubs. If you’re keen to try multiple courses on the island, ship your golf kit to Palma de Mallorca and hire a car to get around – many courses are within 1 – 2 hours’ drive of the city.
What to ship home from Balearic Islands
Palma de Mallorca is the main town for shopping in the Balearic Islands. If you’re seeking tradition, the island’s glass-blowing and pottery industries are well respected. The latter’s earthenware figurines known as siurells are collected around the world. Textiles and embroidery are also traditional crafts. In Ibiza Town, the port district has designer fashion and souvenir shops aplenty and in Menorca you’ll find the famous Xoriguer gin, distilled in Mahon for over 300 years.
