Packing for Cyprus
Cyprus has a subtropical climate and summers are hot, long and dry. Therefore pack for intense heat particularly if you’re visiting the coastal regions. Suncream, sunglasses and a hat are essentials, and it’s also worth having some long-sleeved shirts to keep those arms covered. Remember your swimming gear if you’re beach-bound, and check whether your accommodation provides beach towels – you may need to bring your own. Winters are mild but expect rain between December and February and snow when visiting the Troodos Mountains in the centre of the island.
Last but not least, you might want to bring some sports gear to enjoy the Mediterranean Sea. If you’re a keen surfer, shipping luggage to Cyprus will help you ride the island’s waves on your own board.
Ship your bike to Cyprus
Some of the best cycling routes in Cyprus start out from Paphos. The 65km road linking Paphos and Troodos through the valley of the Diarizos River is ideal for beginners. On the north-west coastline the route from Paphos to Pegeia ending in Polis is more of a challenge. Mountain bikers will enjoy the dirt road from Paphos through the Avakas Gorge to the Baths of Aphrodite in Latchi. Other mountain trials can be found in the Akamas and Troodos regions.
Ship your golfing gear to Cyprus
As with cycling, some of Cyprus’s best golfing is in the Paphos region with its stretch of coastline offering incredibly scenic courses. The Aphrodite Hills Golf Club divided by a deep canyon is one stand out course as is the 1996-opened Secret Valley. Sir Nick Faldo designed the island’s newest course, the Elea Estate, which opened in 2010. Luggage Mule can ship your golf kit to Cyprus at reasonable rates, giving you the chance to enjoy these amazing courses with your own clubs. If you’re keen to try multiple courses in the region, ship your clubs to Paphos and hire a car to get around – many courses are within 1 – 2 hours’ drive of the city.
What to ship home from Cyprus
